In Loving Memory of Agnes Agatha Bush

Agnes Agatha Bush, lovingly known as Gaisa, was a woman whose presence brought life, laughter, and warmth into every room she entered. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Agnes possessed a radiant smile that reflected the light she carried within her. Her vibrant spirit, quick wit, generous heart, and unmistakable personality left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Agnes was born on January 26, 1955, in Chaptico, Maryland, the first daughter and second child of the late Theodore Bush and Mary (Delores) Bush. From an early age, Agnes was athletic, funny, charismatic, and bright. She completed high school a year early while remaining devoted to her local baseball organization, playing second base for the White Pine Chargers. A team that eventually came under the management of her own father, Mr. Theodore. She graduated from Chaptico High School in 1972.

After graduation, Agnes approached the working world with determination and an adventurous spirit, exploring a variety of opportunities as she searched for the work that spoke to her talents and interests. She worked in mail handling, private care, and data entry before discovering her love of computers and craftsmanship in her mid-twenties. That passion led her to the Control Data Institute of Washington, D.C., opening the door to a promising new chapter in her life and career.

Though Agnes was raised in the quiet, rural community of Chaptico, she was captivated by the energy and excitement of Washington, D.C. She loved the grand buildings, bright lights, and hustle and bustle of the city, often inviting her siblings to visit so they could experience and explore it alongside her. Agnes had a deep love for music, dance, and the arts, and she brought that same enthusiasm and animation to every gathering. She loved to cook and treasured time spent with family and friends. Whether watching Tom and Jerry, enjoying the Game Show Network, or sharing lively and hilarious stories about growing up in the countryside of Chaptico, Agnes had a way of making ordinary moments memorable.

And then there was her famous potato salad—renowned among family and friends, and for many, reason enough to make sure they never missed a gathering.

But beyond the laughter, the stories, the dancing, and the food was a woman who loved deeply and lived fully. Agnes was deeply respected, widely adored, and unforgettable to those who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and to turn an ordinary gathering into a memorable occasion. Her humor could brighten a difficult day; her stories could bring a room to life, and her presence could make people feel at home.

Agnes leaves to cherish her memory her children: eldest daughter Melissa Barber; son Marcus Bush (Andrea); and youngest daughter Michelle Henderson (Trey); her longtime friend and companion, Lewis Armstrong; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Mary King (Calvin); Theodore Christopher Bush; Deborah Johnson (Joseph); Kelvin-Scott Bush (Dorisha); Francine Cruz (Israel); and Tier Bush.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Bush and Mary (Delores) Bush, and her brother, Joseph “Freddie” Bush.

As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the life she lived and the countless memories she created. Agnes was truly one of a kind. Her presence will be deeply missed, her memory will be forever treasured, and her legacy of love and laughter will live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
