Alvin Lee Jordan

With profound sorrow and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Alvin Lee Jordan, better known as Buddy, who peacefully entered eternal rest on July 5, 2026, in Maryland, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 31, 1959, in Leonardtown, Maryland, he lived a life defined by love, laughter, resilience, and an unforgettable personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Buddy was born to the late Joseph Aloysius Jordan and Agnes Elizabeth Winters Jordan. He was educated in the St. Mary's County Public School System, where he earned his high school diploma. Throughout his life, Buddy was known for his kind heart, easy smile, and ability to make people feel at home. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, it didn't take long to realize you had gained a friend.

Family was the foundation of Buddy life. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Alvin Jordan, Andre Bowman, Jessica Dorsey, and Adrienne Matthews; his son-in-law, Traves Matthews; his grandchildren, Tyasiha, Trevon, Taniya, Sa'mari, Daejon, Daelon, Nyasia, Drevon, Olivia, Teion, Jael, Tyree, Davon, Trinity, Jaquann, and Ja'siah; and his great-grandchildren, Ty'mir and Dearia.

He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Meredith, Linda McFarland, Paula Woodland, and Paulette Estep; his brother, Dale Jordan; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Meredith, and Herb Estep, also he leaves to cherish a special friend Cheryl Barnes, along with a host of loving family, near and dear friends, his cherished 249 Crew, all whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Aloysius Jordan and Agnes Elizabeth Winters Jordan; his daughter, Latoya Jordan; his grandson, DreQuan Jordan; his siblings, Gary Jordan and Angela Jordan; and his brothers-in-law, Daryl Woodland and Baron McFarland.

Buddy believed life was meant to be enjoyed, and he certainly knew how to enjoy it. A gifted athlete, he loved playing softball and competed on several well-known local teams, including PNP and the Budweiser team. His talent, dedication, and love for the game earned him a well-deserved place in the Softball Hall of Fame, an accomplishment he wore with pride.

When softball season was over, you could usually find Buddy cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Win or lose, he remained loyal to "America's Team," always believing the next season would be their season. He also enjoyed shooting pool, playing bingo, playing cards, and trying his luck with the numbers. Those who knew Buddy often joked that luck seemed to follow him wherever he went, because it wasn't unusual for him to hit big when he played.

If there was music, Buddy was there. He never waited for an invitation to the dance floor—he was usually the first one out there and often the last one to leave. He had a style all his own and even created dance moves that family and friends still talk about today, including his signature move known as the "Foot Pivot." Watching him dance was entertainment in itself, and he made sure everyone around him was smiling, laughing, and having just as much fun as he was.

Buddy had a personality that could light up any room. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and bring people together. He was well known for his charm and smooth personality, and those closest to him will smile remembering that he was quite the ladies' man. At home, however, everyone knew who really spoiled him—his mother and his sisters made sure he was well cared for, and he gladly accepted every bit of that love and attention.

More than anything, he cherished the time he spent with family and friends. He had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments feel special. His laughter was contagious, his spirit was uplifting, and his presence made every gathering a little brighter. The stories he created, the memories he leaves behind, and the joy he shared will continue to bring smiles for generations to come.

Although our hearts are heavy with his passing, we celebrate a life that was truly well lived. Budddy taught us to laugh often, love deeply, dance like no one was watching, and never pass up an opportunity to enjoy life. His legacy lives on through the many people whose lives he touched and the countless memories they will treasure forever.

As we say goodbye, we can almost picture him with that familiar smile, reminding us not to spend too much time crying because he would rather see us laughing, dancing, and enjoying each other—just as he always did. His spirit will forever live on in our hearts, and his memory will continue to be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
