Obituary

With a tender heart and profound sadness, we remember and celebrate the life of Anthony Maurice Woodland, who peacefully left us on May 23, 2026, in Leonardtown, Maryland, the very place where his journey began on October 6, 1967. Anthony was a man whose love and care extended warmly to many, a truly devoted family man who treasured the bonds he nurtured throughout his life.

Anthony received his education through the St. Mary Public School Systems, where he proudly earned his high school diploma. This foundation propelled him into a career as a self-employed car mechanic, a vocation that perfectly suited his generous spirit and keen hands. He was always ready to lend a hand, particularly to those with car troubles, embodying a kindness and willingness that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Those who spent time with Anthony fondly recall his ever-present cold drink in hand, a small but comforting part of his daily rhythm. Outside of his work, he found great joy in being outdoors, tending to his garden, and embracing the memories of his youth as a sharecropper. He was an avid fan of football and basketball, proudly supporting his two favorite teams, the Washington Wizards and the Washington Commanders, formerly known as the Redskins. The thrill of street track racing and the melodies of music were also sources of happiness and relaxation for him.

Anthony’s legacy is carried on lovingly by his son, Anthony Maurice Woodland Jr., and his siblings Chris (Travis) Woodland, Paul "Ronnie" (Sharon) Woodland, Paul "Sam" (Lestremayne) Stewart, Vincent Woodland, and Danny Woodland. Their lives, along with those of a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, are touched deeply by the loss of a man who meant so much to each of them. Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vickey Lee Carter Woodland, his parents Paul and Dorris Key Woodland, and his siblings David Woodland and Myron Woodland.

This untimely passing leaves a void that echoes with cherished memories of a man who was not only loveable and caring but whose dedication to his family and community created a lasting impression of warmth and steadfast support.

In honor of Anthony’s memory, his son requests that those wishing to contribute in support of funeral arrangements do so through the funeral home directly. Each gesture of love and support is deeply appreciated during this difficult time. For those who would like to donate you can do so via the following link provided below.
