Brenda Joyce Ross, a cherished soul born on March 21, 1947, in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland, ascended to her eternal rest peacefully and graciously on October 11, 2025, in Adelphi, Maryland. Brenda's journey in life was marked by her unwavering spirit, boundless love for family, and an extraordinary career in the healthcare industry.
Brenda dedicated herself to the service of others, retiring from a commendable career as a unit Administrator at John Hopkins on the children's unit. Her compassionate heart extended beyond her professional life as she managed two assisted living houses, embodying the role of a true humanitarian. Her commitment to nurturing those around her made a profound impact on the lives she touched, showcasing her desire to make the world a better place.
Educated within the Baltimore City Public Schools, Brenda graduated from Dunbar High School, a foundation that set her on a path towards fulfilling her dreams. It was at a young age that she surrendered her life to Christ, finding peace and purpose that would guide her throughout her life, marked by a baptism at the Little Ark Baptist Church, a cornerstone of her early years.
In the embrace of family and friends, Brenda was known for her sweet, loving demeanor and infectious sense of humor. She was a true comedian at heart, bringing smiles and laughter wherever she went. Her hobbies varied from venturing into the world of casinos to delighting in family gatherings, where her culinary skills shone, particularly her beloved spaghetti, which won the affection of all who tasted it. Moreover, Brenda's flair for fashion was evident in her collection of bags and shoes, earning her the affectionate title of "The Thrifting Queen." She could often be found exploring flea markets, her eyes twinkling with excitement as she searched for unique treasures. Among her delightful possessions was a charming collection of clowns, reflecting her playful spirit.
Brenda leaves behind a legacy of love, forever etched in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her children, Kevin Carter and Chanel; her grandchildren, Brittany, Dominique, and Keon; and her sister, Deborah Johnson, and aunt (Edna Williamson) Additionally, she is remembered fondly by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will carry her memory forward.
Brenda now joins her beloved husband, Harry Byrd Ross, who precedes her in death, along with her grandson, Kevin Carter Jr., and her siblings, Delores, Yvonne, Tyrone, and James Johnson Sr. Though they are separated by the veil of death, their bonds of love remain eternal, an indelible part of Brenda's life.
A visitation will be held on October 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sweet Mercy Church & Ministries, Pastor Donna Chiarella, located in Baltimore.
