Deontae Anthony Holloway, a warm and loving soul known for his gentle, teddy bear-like nature and immense generosity, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on May 15, 2026, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Born on July 3, 1995, in Washington, D.C., Deontae lived a life marked by devotion to family, a big heart, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Friendly High School Class of 2013, Deontae received his education through Prince George’s County Public Schools. He dedicated much of his time caring for his beloved Papa & Mama Tina, embodying the kind and nurturing spirit that defined his character. Deontae shared a special bond with his parents - Mom & Pops, making it a point to call them every single day and ensuring they answered. Deontae love and bond with his brothers, nephews and niece was like no other! Deontae developed a special bond with his friend Shyra and her son, they enjoyed spending time together and talking about life.
Deontae was known for bringing laughter and comfort wherever he went. A self-proclaimed cook. He often bragged about his culinary adventures. One favorite memory recalls his determined attempt to make noodles without water in the microwave — a moment that nearly ended in disaster but perfectly captured his humor, innocence, and ability to make others smile.
Deontae enjoyed watching wrestling, including WWE, UFC fights, playing video games and football, faithfully cheering on the Washington Commanders. Deontae also loved the Lakers and admired Kobe Bryant.
Deontae leaves to cherish his memory his devoted parents, Chavonne & Arthur Steward “Pops,” Joseph & Darlene Johnson jr. his beloved siblings, Devon Holloway (Nia Holloway), Dorrien Holloway, A’mani Magee, D’metri Magee, Antionette Howard, Travon Howard, Shaquita Livingston, and Ahmad Livingston; his grandparents, Denise Dabney, Joseph and Ernestine Johnson Sr., Frederica Steward, and Pearlie Johnson; his nephews: Jace Sanchez & Maverick Holloway and niece: Nola Holloway, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who were all blessed by his love and presence.
A memorial service celebrating Deontae’s life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, honor, and love as they celebrate the beautiful life he lived.
Though his time here was far too short, Deontae’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for his gentle soul, infectious warmth, unwavering love for family, and the quiet strength he carried every day.
