Geraldine Elizabeth Snyder, a cherished member of the community known for her vibrant personality and dedication to her family, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Clinton, Maryland. Born on April 12, 1959, in Washington, DC, Geraldine lived a life marked by warmth, spirited conversation, and an enduring love of cooking and family.
Geraldine received her education through the St. Mary's County Public School System, laying the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. Throughout her career, she demonstrated remarkable versatility and commitment. She worked at McKay's as a cook, where her seafood salad was highly praised by customers. Geraldine also served as an administrative assistant at Paxriver in the government sector and later contributed her skills as a check processing clerk at Maddison Bank. Her professional journey reflected not only her work ethic but also her ability to touch lives in every role she undertook.
Those who knew Geraldine fondly remember her love of cooking—she was especially renowned for her fried chicken and strawberry shortcake, dishes that brought joy to family gatherings and friends alike. Beyond her culinary talents, she enjoyed playing scratch-offs, engaging in bingo games, dancing, spending cherished moments with her grandchildren, and passionately supporting the Washington Redskins. Her lively spirit and enjoyment of “talking trash” revealed a woman who loved life and relished fun and friendly camaraderie.
Geraldine’s untimely and unfortunate passing leaves a deep void. She will be profoundly missed not only for her vibrant personality and loving nature but also for the genuine warmth she extended to all who crossed her path.
She is survived by her beloved child, Trevor Gordon her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Gordon and Drake Gordon; her siblings, Ray Blackiston, Yvette Snyder, and Robin Blackiston Keys; as well as her bonus sister, Monica Gordon. Geraldine’s family circle is further enriched by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who treasured her presence. She is preceded in death by her son Terrell Gordon and her parents, Herbert and Sarah Snyder.
A visitation will be held on May 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Both services will take place at the Gospel Tabernacle of Prayer, located at 24516 Budds Creek Rd, Clements, MD 20624, United States.
Geraldine Elizabeth Snyder’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication. Her memory will remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, and her spirit will forever be cherished by family and friends.
