Jerry Jerome Estep Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on December 5, 2025. Born on April 1, 1969, in Leonardtown Maryland, Jerry was a dedicated member of his community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and laughter.
Throughout his life, Jerry demonstrated a profound work ethic, holding positions at Flippo Construction and T.W. Smith as a diesel mechanic before establishing his own landscaping business. His career reflected his unwavering commitment to providing for his family while exemplifying the value of diligence.
Jerry's educational journey began at St. Mary's Public-School Systems, where he not only graduated with his diploma but also showcased his athletic prowess by playing basketball in high school. Beyond academics, Jerry was known for his vibrant personality. An avid trash talker and loving jokester, he had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His friends and family will fondly remember him for his particularly clean apartment, which he took immense pride in maintaining, often joking about the lengths to which he would go to ensure everything was spotless. Sundays were often spent in front of the TV, proudly rooting for the Dallas Cowboys—a passion that brought him great happiness.
Jerry's love for cooking was evident in his kitchen, where he could be found preparing meals such as Chitterlings, pig feet, salads, with Nicollettis Pizza being his favorite spot. He enjoyed hosting family game nights filled with cards and dominoes, gathering loved ones for joyful moments that would be cherished forever.
He is survived by his beloved children, Natasha Estep, Jerry Estep Jr. (Paula), Devondra Carter, and bonus daughter Tamika Maddox. As a proud grandfather, he leaves behind his grandchildren Jayshawn, Justyce, Aubree Estep, Alyric, Jayceon, and Jaxxon. Jerry is also survived by his devoted siblings: Diane "SueSue" (Jerry) Harris, Sheila (Russell) Coates, Wayne (Cheryl) Estep, Mary "Sissy" Estep (Mark), Cheryl (Daryl) Warren, Jowana Holton, and Jessica (Ryan) Imes, and Wanda Reed, along with his God Parents Joe and Patsy Meredith and aunts Wilma Estep, Yvonne Robinson, Mary Annie and Alice Winters, Faye, and Joan Estep, as well as uncles Carroll Winters and Lawrence Estep, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Charles Estep, his brother Charles (Tee) Winters-Estep, his nephew Tavaris Hewlett, aunts Agnes Jordan, Loretta Medley, Barbara Ann Winters, and Charlotte Estep Thomas, as well as uncles James, Joseph, and William Winters and James, Louis, Joseph, David, Michael, and Rodney Estep.
Jerry Jerome Estep Sr. will be remembered not just for his industrious nature but for the love and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. He touched many hearts during his time and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
