In Loving Memory of
Keith Lamont Coleman
May 30, 1952 – July 7, 2026
Keith Lamont Coleman was born on May 30, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, to the late Hannah Coleman and William Edward Ross.
Keith was a proud graduate of George Washington High School, Class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, he began a remarkable career with the United States Postal Service, where he faithfully served as a Mail Handler for 43 years. His dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of both colleagues and friends throughout his career.
Keith believed life was meant to be enjoyed. He loved traveling, especially to the Caribbean, and among his favorite destinations were Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic. He was also known for his passion for cars, particularly the Datsun 280ZX. Friends and family immediately recognized his beloved vehicle by its personalized license plate, "1 KC Z."
Although naturally quiet and humble, Keith formed deep and lasting friendships. He preferred a close-knit circle over large crowds, and if he welcomed you into his life, you were truly considered family. Following his retirement, one of his greatest joys was spending Friday evenings playing Pokeno with his cherished group of longtime friends.
And then there was football.
Keith was an unapologetic and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Living in Redskins (now Commanders) territory never changed his loyalty. Year after year and season after season, he proudly defended his Cowboys with unwavering confidence. Family and friends knew better than to mention football unless they were prepared to hear why Dallas was still America's Team.
Above all else, Keith treasured his family. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His love, wisdom, and steady presence left an unforgettable mark on everyone blessed to know him.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Keith Lamont Coleman unexpectedly transitioned from this life in Fort Washington, Maryland. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, loyalty, laughter, and friendship will continue to live on through those whose lives he touched.
Keith leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving daughter, Nichelle Wilburn; four grandchildren, Jazmin Wilburn, Markia Thompson, Eboni Thompson, and Justin Thompson; two great-granddaughters, Myla Pope and Journi Wilburn; his brother, Marcus Ross; his sister, Deidre Ross; his beloved uncle, Cecil Ross; his aunts, Victoria Ross, Shirley Ross, and Carlotta Ross; two nieces; a host of cousins; his special Pokeno friends; and many other relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Hannah Coleman and William Edward Ross; his sister, Patricia Coleman; and his brother, Jeffery Coleman.
Keith Lamont Coleman's legacy is one of hard work, loyalty, laughter, and Alexandria pride. He taught those around him the importance of showing up, speaking your mind, loving your family, and enjoying every moment life has to offer. While he will be deeply missed, those who knew him will forever remember his stories, his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and, of course, his unwavering belief that the Dallas Cowboys were always just one season away from another championship.
In true Keith fashion, he probably left this world still convinced that next season would be Dallas' year.
