Linda Patricia Briscoe

Linda Patricia “Pumpkin” Briscoe, beloved sister and friend, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Leonardtown, Maryland. Born on December 5, 1954, at Pax River Naval Base in Lexington Park, Maryland, Linda’s life was one marked by compassion, warmth, and a relentlessly caring spirit.

A treasured member of her community, Linda’s career was dedicated to public service with Parks and Recreation for St. Mary’s government, where she touched the lives of countless residents. Whether working alongside colleagues or serving the broader community, she was known for her loving, welcoming personality and pleasant disposition. It was this spirit that endeared her to so many and earned her the affectionate nickname, “Pumpkin.”

Linda had a vibrant passion for life and pursued her many interests with joy and enthusiasm. She was an avid reader of fiction, always with a book close at hand, and loved nothing more than getting lost in a great story. Board games and puzzles provided her with joyful moments of camaraderie and laughter, and family and friends fondly recall competitive evenings spent around the table. Linda was also a devoted fan of Law and Order and never missed an opportunity to catch a live sports game, particularly those of the Washington Wizards.

Shopping was one of Linda’s delights—she was well known for her fun-loving approach and the phrase, “shop ‘til she dropped.” She found happiness collecting beautiful crystals, and her home shimmered with the light they caught. Of all her passions, perhaps none matched her love of Maryland Blue crabs—which she could easily enjoy by the dozen, much to the amazement and amusement of her family and friends. Her homemade chili was legendary in town, with many declaring it simply the best on this side of the county.

Though Linda did not have children of her own, her heart overflowed with love for the children in her family and in her community. She delighted in their company, offering encouragement, guidance, and hugs, nurturing them as if they were her own. Her nurturing nature and genuine kindness made her a cherished presence in the lives of many young people.

Those who knew Linda will remember her daily calls to her siblings—a simple “I love you” and her signature line, “that’s what I do,” before she would hang up. These moments, filled with affection and sincerity, are treasured memories that her family will hold close forever.

Linda leaves behind two loving Sisters, Margaret Butler (William Butler) and Betty Oldham, and her brother, Josh Oldham (preceded in death by his wife, Brookalene Oldham), who will forever cherish the bond they shared. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her mother, Dorothy Lee Harris; her father, Josh Henry Oldham; her sister, Joslin Brown (John Brown); and her brother, Hayward James Miller. who will cherish the bond they shared. She is now reunited in peace with her mother, Dorothy Lee Harris-Oldham and Josh her brothers, Haywood James Miller.

Her loving, pleasant, and welcoming personality made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Linda Patricia Briscoe will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community that she served and loved so well.

Family and friends are invited to honor Linda’s memory at a visitation on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at God’s House of Refuge, located at 46694 Midway Dr, Lexington Park, MD 20653, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the same location. Burial will take place at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Rd, Leonardtown, MD 20650, beginning at 12:45 PM.

The memory of Linda’s love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
