Mary Corrine Young

Mary Corrine Young, born on March 23, 1943, in Laplata, Maryland, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2025, in King George,. A spirited woman who thrived on joy and conversation, Mary was known for her cheerful personality and her love of good times, often engaging in playful banter that showcased her sharp wit.

Mary’s love for life was evident in her interests, which included frequent visits to casinos where she enjoyed playing bingo and scratch-offs; these hobbies were a testament to her adventurous spirit. She had a fondness for watching her favorite television shows, particularly "The Stories," which she never missed. Yet, it was her role as a loving matriarch that brought her the most joy. She cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will last for generations.

She is survived by her daughter, Irish (Gamal) Ashria, very devoted grandson Dewayne (Valerie), Craig, Robert, and Marquese. Granddaughters Corine, Tina, and Sherita. Siblings Theodore (Lisa), William (Cecilia) along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her for the warmth and love she brought into their lives.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved children, Robert, Joseph, Alice and Willie. Grandson Delane. She was also preceded by her parents, John and Henrietta, and her siblings Sylvester, Francis, Louis, Johnny, Herbert, Agnes, Ruth, Elizabeth, and Geraldine.

The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects at a visitation on August 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, both held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, located at 100 Village St, Waldorf, MD 20602.

Mary Corrine Young will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her vibrant spirit and the joy she spread to everyone around her.
