Osie Mae Shade

Osie Mae Shade passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8th, 2026 at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. 

She is survived by her husband, James Robert Shade, Sr., her daughters, Cloris Stewart (John), Khadijah Young, April Young, her siblings, Johnnie Brooks Sr. (Lillie), Mary Brooks, Sarah Brooks, and Ruby Thompson (Francis-deceased), ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Dr. Rudy C. Brooks & Mrs. Lou Ella Brooks, sisters Rena Smith and Pearl Brooks, brother Jimmy Brooks, son James Robert Shade, Jr., and her devoted companion, David Sylvester Young. 

She was born on December 24, 1959, in Dover Delaware and spent most of her life in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. She was a compassionate and devoted caregiver for many years in private community settings and with the ARC of Southern Maryland. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling stories, making everyone laugh, singing and dancing, attending church, and caring for her grandson, Kaden. She leaves behind loving and fond memories of sharing good times and laughter.
