Deacon Philip Authar Wilson

Deacon Philip Authar Wilson, a beloved entrepreneur and a larger-than-life figure, was born on December 4, 1942, in the serene hills of Westmorland County, Virginia. His journey through life brought him profound accomplishments, a loving family, and a legacy of success that will echo through generations.

Trained in the realm of mathematics, Deacon Philip was affectionately dubbed "the mathematician" by his teachers, showcasing his keen intellect by demonstrating complex problems for his classmates. This intellectual prowess, however, was merely one facet of his multifaceted personality. Among family and friends, he was legendary for his humor – the jokester who could lift spirits with a single quip. Deacon Philip had a unique ability to speak the truth candidly, shooting straight from the hip, which earned him both the admiration and respect of those around him. Above all, he was recognized as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always eager to share love and laughter.

As a businessman, Deacon Philip ventured into diverse territories, establishing both a trucking business and a catering service, and owning a local gas station, each thriving through his hard work and unwavering commitment. The warm flavors of his culinary creations were more than just food; they were a means to bring people together, creating bonds over meals imbued with love. His success did not go unnoticed; both businesses flourished and have been passed down to the next generation, ensuring that his entrepreneurial spirit lives on.

Deacon Philip's life was rich with faith, as he dedicated himself to serving God, embodying the spirit of a loving man of God and serving as a deacon within his church community. His active participation in the Kingdom demonstrated his deep-seated belief in the power of community and fellowship.

Surrounded by his loving family, Deacon Philip peacefully transitioned to eternal glory on January 20, 2025, in Clinton, Maryland. He is survived by his cherished wife, Sylvia Wilson, along with his sons, Phillip Arthur Wilson and Daniel Nation Wilson (Ashley), who carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor. His grandchildren – Elijah Jamal Wilson (Elijee), Daniel Nation Wilson II (Dan Dan), Felisha Olivia Wilson (Wesha), Josiah Phillip Wilson (JoJo), Aliysha Renee Wilson (Missy), AAliyah Slyvia Wilson (Ballet), and Jayla Danielle Wilson (Jay Jay) – were the pride of his life, and he lavished them with affection and wisdom.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 30, 2025, at Zion Baptist Church in Welcome, MD, followed by a burial on February 1, 2025, at Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, VA. As we reflect on Deacon Philip's extraordinary life, we celebrate a man who truly embraced the essence of generosity and camaraderie, whose heart was as expansive as his ambitions. In our hearts, his memory will live on, a sweet symphony of joy, laughter, and love that warms us still.
