Thomas Eugene Daye Jr.

Thomas Eugene Daye Jr., AKA Transformer born on March 2, 1956, in Maryland, passed away on July 26, 2025, after a sadly untimely journey through life. Thomas was a spirited individual who brought joy and laughter into the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and camaraderie that will be cherished by those who knew him.

Throughout his life, Thomas had a varied career but found his passion as a chef at the Pax River Naval Base in St. Mary's County. His culinary skills brought comfort and satisfaction to many, showcasing his creativity and dedication to his craft. Thomas attended St. Mary's County public school system, his life experiences provided him with an education that few could rival.

Known as the life of the party, Thomas possessed a vibrant personality that drew people to him. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, using his enthusiasm for the sport as a way to connect and engage with others. He often trolled the Redskins (Deadskins) as he called them. A true jokester and trash talker, Thomas had an unmatched ability to tell jokes and create laughter around him. His competitive spirit shone through in his hobbies, which included playing spades, dominos, and chess, where he loved to engage in friendly banter. He also found enjoyment in dancing to live music, particularly with Chuck Brown and The Paul Wills Band. Thomas had a fondness for watching westerns and The Steve Harvey Show, hobbies that filled his leisure time with entertainment.

Thomas is survived by his son, Tawian Montae Gant, and his beloved grandchildren, Cali Gant and Jayliah Gant. He is also survived by his siblings: Cecelia Toland, Patsy Bush, James Daye, Sharon Harris, Diane Wynn (Ron), Shirley Porter, and Linda Bonds. He had a favorite nephew Sherman Bush, special friends, Mary Catherine Hebb/Thomas and Patricia Gant, good friends Lester Dickens, Chester Taylor, and Stanley Bonds who shared meaningful moments with him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Eugene Daye Sr. and Pearl Marie Lawrence, as well as his siblings, Edith Butler and Rose Daye.

Family and friends will gather to honor Thomas's memory during visitation on August 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Face Church in Callaway, MD. A Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at 12:15 PM at the same location.

Thomas Eugene Daye Jr. will truly be missed, remembered for his infectious laughter, love for life, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
